The Scots College announces planned leadership transition
The Council of The Scots College has announced that Dr Ian PM Lambert will retire as Principal of the College at the endof 2027, concluding 21 years of leadership of the College.
Dr Lambert has advised Council of his intention to retire as Principal of the College at the end of 2027. Council has accepted this decision with deep respect for Dr Lambert and confidence in the period of transition ahead.
Chairman of the College Council, Rev Glen Pather, said Council gives thanks to God for Dr and Mrs Lambert’s service to The Scots College.
“By the time he concludes his service as Principal, Dr Lambert will have led The Scots College for 21 years,” Rev Pather said.
“His leadership has shaped the College in profound and lasting ways. He has strengthened its educational vision, deepened its character and Christian foundations, and guided Scots through a period of significant growth, development and change.”
Council also recognised Mrs Alison Lambert for her dedication to the College community and her care for the boys, which has been a constant and valued part of the Lambert family’s service to Scots.
Rev Pather said the timeframe allows the College to undertake a careful, orderly and thorough succession process while Dr Lambert continues to lead the College with full commitment through to the end of 2027.
“This is not a farewell announcement,” Rev Pather said.
“There will be proper opportunities, in time, to recognise and honour Dr and Mrs Lambert’s contribution to the College. For now, our priority is to provide clarity and confidence about the period ahead. Dr Lambert remains Principal of The Scots College. There is no immediate change to the leadership or operation of the College.”
The College’s Strategic Plan is in place and provides a clear direction for the years ahead. Council and Dr Lambert will continue to work with focus and purpose to advance that plan and serve the boys and families of Scots.
Dr Lambert said it is a deep privilege to serve as Principal of The Scots College.
“Scots is a remarkable community, and it is one of the great honours of my life to lead this College,” Dr Lambert said.
“I remain fully committed to the work before us. There is much still to do, and I look forward to continuing to serve the boys, families, staff and wider Scots community through to the end of 2027.”
“Alison and I are deeply grateful for the life we have shared with the Scots community, and for the privilege of serving the College and its boys over many years,” Dr Lambert said.
Council will now commence a careful process to appoint the next Principal and will keep the College community appropriately informed as that process progresses.
Council has asked the College community to pray for wisdom for Council and for Dr and Mrs Lambert, as the College moves carefully through this period of transition.
“The College remains stable, focused and well led. Council is confident in Dr Lambert’s continuing leadership and in the strength of the College as it prepares carefully for this next chapter,” Rev Pather said.
