Making Waves in 2026

At state and national championships, Scots Swimming continues to make its mark in the pool. Through dedication, teamwork and countless hours of training, swimmers have achieved outstanding results, broken records and represented the College with pride at every level of competition.

Scots at the AAGPS Swimming Carnival
At the Athletic Association of the Great Public Schools (AAGPS) Swimming Carnival at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre in February, Lewis Jewel (Year 8), Diesel Williams (Year 11) and Dylan Xie (Year 9) broke multiple records in a remarkable display of focus and talent, setting a new benchmark in the pool.

The College’s Junior 14 Years Relay Team, broke GPS record and placed 1st placed third in the highly competitive 12–14 Years 4x50m (200m) Freestyle Relay. This is an exceptional achievement against the best school swimmers in the state. Congratulations to Dylan Xie, Lewis Jewel, Terrance Zhong and Boston Sweeny on this outstanding team performance.

When the AAGPS Representative Swimming team was announced, outstanding performances were recognised. A Year 9 Swimming athlete was recognised with one of the evening’s highest honours – AAGPS Swimmer of the Season – receiving the gold AAGPS medallion after accumulating the greatest number of points for his team across the AAGPS season.

Nine Scots swimmers made the AAGPS Representative swimming team! Congratulations to Terrance Zhong (Year 9), Dylan Xie (Year 9), Boston Sweeny (Year 8), Lewis Jewell, Landon Harvey (Year 9), Neil Kennedy (Year 11), Diesel Williams (Year 11) and Flynn Goold (Year 11).

CIS at the 2026 New South Wales All Schools Swimming Championship
At the 2026 New South Wales All Schools Swimming Championship, Scots Combined Independent Schools (CIS) team members, Dylan Xie (Year 9) broke NSW records in the 100m and 200m freestyle, while claiming five podium positions. Diesel Williams (Year 11) and Lewis Jewel (Year 8) achieved two podium positions each. A remarkable highlight came from our Junior 14 Years Relay team, who placed third in the highly competitive 12–14 Years 200m Freestyle Relay. This is an exceptional achievement against the best school swimmers in the state.

2026 Australian Age and Open Swimming Championships
The Scots College swimming program has delivered a masterclass in depth and determination at the 2026 Australian Age and Open Swimming Championships, walking away with an absolute haul of national medals. Faced with the fiercest fields in the country including seasoned Olympic veterans the Scots squad turned the Gold Coast aquatic centre into a statement of intent.

The meet undoubtedly belonged to Lewis Jewell (Year 8), who put together a ruthless individual campaign to snag a staggering five gold medals (sweeping the 100m/200m freestyle and 50m/100m/200m butterfly) alongside a bronze in the 50m freestyle.

Equally heroic was Dylan Xie (Year 9), who conquered a brutal 10-event schedule to qualify for nine national finals, securing gold in the State Relay and bronze in the 100m freestyle. Meanwhile, Diesel Williams (Year 11) proved his elite standing by placing 7th in Australia in the Men’s Open 50m breaststroke, later backing it up with an age category silver in the same event.

The next generation also shone. Fresh from the rugged Glengarry outdoor program, Edison Whalan (Year 9) clocked multiple Personal Best times to finish 19th in Australia for the 50m breaststroke, while Terrance Zhong (Year 9) and Landon Harvey (Year 9) two Swimming athletes secured impressive top 50 national rankings.

Following their blistering performances on the Gold Coast, two swimming athletes Scots standouts Dylan Xie and Diesel Williams have officially been selected for the prestigious 2026 NSW Swimming Futures Squad. This elite selection identifies the state’s top emerging talent and places both boys firmly on the pathway to becoming future Australian representatives. It is a massive achievement for the Scots Swimming program

2026 School Sport Australia Swimming Championships

Dylan Xie (Year 9) and Diesel Williams (Year 11) delivered outstanding performances at the 2026 School Sport Australia Swimming Championships.

Dylan produced a remarkable campaign, winning 5 gold medals and setting 3 national records across multiple events! He also placed first in the 50m breaststroke preliminary round and fourth in the mixed 200m medley relay. Diesel showed tremendous grit in the senior division. Overcoming illness to claim third place in the 50m breaststroke, bringing home a hard-earned bronze medal.

Water Polo
Two Water Polo players from The Scots College, Samuel Dunn (Year 11) and Thomas Lawson (Year 10), achieved a major milestone by gaining selection into the prestigious AAGPS 18 Years and Under Water Polo Team for 2026. Representing the College’s 1sts team, the duo showcased their talents while competing at the highly competitive New South Wales Combined Independent Schools (NSWCIS) Water Polo trials. 

Beyond this Senior success, the College’s Water Polo program is demonstrating deep talent across its ranks, with multiple athletes selected for the Water Polo NSW representative pathway squads. In the Junior divisions, George Nixon (Year 8) was named to the Under 14 squad, while Scott Hamilton (Year 7) and Corbin Allen (Year 7) earned selection for the Under 13 squad. The Middle School cohorts also saw strong representation, with Patrice Buikema (Year 9) selected for the Under 15 squad and Henry Haines (Year 10) in the Under 16 squad.

This widespread representative success reflects the strong development pathway at Scots, providing a formidable competitive edge as these athletes head into the upcoming AAGPS season.
