Undertaking Initial Teacher Training and Practicum at Scots
The Scots College is committed to developing the next generation of teachers and provides practicum placements for outstanding student teachers from a range of universities and teaching disciplines.
Scots seeks to employ teaching staff that exemplify the highest standards of teaching. The College provides high quality education to its students and seeks to extend this provision when selecting practicum students. At Scots we provide a welcoming environment where practicum students can grow and foster their skill set. We seek practicum students that are compatible with Scots work ethic, professional standards and ability to uphold the College’s values, faith and educational philosophy. If this sounds like an opportunity you are interested in, we encourage you to follow the application process:
Step one
Applicants are to submit a brief two to three page resume and cover letter that provides previous work/practicum experience, referees, related skills, interests and hobbies and reasons for wishing to undertake their practicum at Scots.
Please include relevant dates and subject areas. Applications should be directed by email to the Coordinator of Teacher Accreditation and Practicum Teachers, Dr Jeff Mann at j.mann@scots.college.
Step two
Your application will be discussed with the relevant Head of Department. If unsuccessful, you will be emailed a response. If successful, you will be contacted for a 15 minute interview with the Head of Department and Coordinator of Teacher Accreditation and Practicum Teachers. This will take place on Zoom or in person at a mutually convenient time.
Step three
Applicants will be emailed as to the final outcome. Successful applicants will be encouraged to contact their university practicum coordinators and liaise with the relevant Head of Department.
Prospective applicants should familiarise themselves with the school website: www.scots.college
Students undertaking their practicum experience may be invited to participate in sport and co-curricular activities. Successful placements may also lead to being included in our prospective teachers’ group and being invited to apply for teaching roles that may become available.
