On Sunday 17 May, we gathered on The Scots College Main Oval for the 74th Annual Parade of Remembrance, with Lieutenant Colonel (AAC) John Williams serving as Reviewing Officer.

This proud and moving occasion held a significant dual purpose for our College. Together with The Scots College Old Boys’ Union Pipes and Drums, The Scots College Army Cadet Unit, the Pipes and Drums, staff, and our community, we paused to commemorate all current and ex-Australian Defence Force members, paying special tribute to the profound service and sacrifice of Scots Old Boys and wider community.

Equally, the day served as the official Passing Out Parade for our graduating Army Cadet and Pipes and Drums cohort. It was a celebration of their hard work and dedication, culminating in the symbolic passing of stewardship of the Unit to our incoming Year 11 Cadet leaders.

It is wonderful to see our fine young men carrying forward our enduring traditions of service, respect and leadership.

William Elder

1927-2010

Mr Alan Elder was born in Scotland and migrated to Australia with his parents at a young age. He attended The Scots College for all his schooling, graduating in 1944. He played 1st XI Cricket and was a member of the College Cadet Unit. After leaving school Mr Elder studied accountancy and retained a life-long love of the College, especially the Pipes and Drums. Mr Elder never married, however the significant bequest he left will allow his Scots family to remember him through the Lang Walker Business Centre.
