The Scots College holds a special place in the hearts and minds of the generations of Boarders from the land who have called the College home. Jack Pinn from Gunnedah is currently in Year 12, following in the footsteps of his brother Charlie (’21) and father Glen (’91) who, despite their different passions, relish in the stories of shared experiences of the College. One of these experiences is Glengarry, a unique outdoor education, six-month residential experience for all Year 9 students where boys develop mentally, physically and socially. It is not uncommon for the Pinn family to spend hours reflecting on their time at Glengarry, a cherished experience.

While Jack is a keen sportsman, his brother Charlie has a passion for music. Charlie was Captain of the Contemporary Music program and proudly represented the College in Switzerland in the Pipes and Drums. Meanwhile, Jack was Captain of the 16As Rugby team as well as Rowing in the 1st VIII crew in 2023 and 2024. Jack also represented Scots at the Henley Royal Regatta in England. No matter your passion, The Scots College has been raising boys to become fine men since 1893.

The family’s connection to the land is supported through the College’s unique agricultural programs. Scots has implemented an experiential agriculture framework that starts early on in a student’s journey. Taking an evidence-based approach, boys appreciate the importance of ensuring a sustainable supply of food for Australia. Scots boys can elect to study Agriculture from Years 8 to 12, utilising our Bellevue Hill campus for the study of poultry and vegetable production, while visiting our Bannockburn site to investigate regenerative agriculture including beef production.

With over 65 percent of Boarding students, like Jack and Charlie, coming from regional areas of Australia, Scots is committed to creating a safe, nurturing and adventurous Boarding experience for boys in Years 5 to 12 that is located in one of the most beautiful parts of Sydney.

Our programs encourage metropolitan and regional students to embrace their passions and try new experiences, all accessed at our campuses across New South Wales.

Mr Alan Elder was born in Scotland and migrated to Australia with his parents at a young age. He attended The Scots College for all his schooling, graduating in 1944. He played 1st XI Cricket and was a member of the College Cadet Unit. After leaving school Mr Elder studied accountancy and retained a life-long love of the College, especially the Pipes and Drums. Mr Elder never married, however the significant bequest he left will allow his Scots family to remember him through the Lang Walker Business Centre.
