The Scots College is now the premier Beach and Indoor Volleyball school in NSW and Australia!

On Friday 22 to Sunday 24 March, the Australian Beach Volleyball Schools Cup was held at Coolangatta Beach, Gold Coast. The Scots College won the Year 11 Boys Pairs division, winning over Craigslea State High School, Chermside, Queensland.

Scots Year 11 boys, Captain of Beach Volleyball, Rohan Kumar and teammate, Lucas Fletcher, won in two sets, demonstrating excellent skills and teamwork. Rohan and Lucas dropped only one set for the tournament capping off a very successful Beach Volleyball season.

Lucas was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the tournament. Joining Rohan and Lucas on the medal podium were Scots Year 10 athletes earning bronze in the Year 10 division.

The match was broadcast on SBS, Australia’s multicultural and multilingual national broadcaster, as the Year 11 Boys Pairs gold medal game replaced the bronze medal match from the Beach Pro Tour Futures on centre court. Despite the rainy weather, the match had full commentary and officials, while competing in front of grandstands packed full of supporters, sponsors and dignitaries.

Congratulations, boys, on a wonderful achievement and fine sportsmanship!

Australian Beach Volleyball Representative and Old Boy, Mr Killian Donovan (’23) Update

It was an exciting weekend for the College as they also had the opportunity to support recent 2023 Scots graduate, Mr Killian Donovan, who played on the Beach Pro Tour Futures, representing Australia. In between his matches, Mr Donovan took the time to assist and coach the Scots teams. For his invaluable tips and advice, the five Scots teams in return, were able to support Mr Donovan as he won against Japan and New Zealand on his way to the main draw. We wish Mr Donovan all the best with his volleyball career.

Success in The Scots College Beach Volleyball Academy

The Scots Beach Volleyball Academy has had the most successful summer season yet. Athletes compete every Thursday at the Brighton Beach Volleyball League, hosted by the Brighton Beach Volleyball Association, and every weekend at various local, state and Australian Beach Volleyball tour events.

All athletes within Scots Beach Volleyball Academy currently hold Australian Beach Volleyball Ranking Seniors Tour ranking points.

The Scots Beach Volleyball athletes credit their recent successes to the amazing and dedicated coaches and strength and conditioning staff at The Scots College. The Scots College has now won three Australian Beach Volleyball Schools Cup titles, had three MVPs across the tournaments and last year in December, during the midpoint of the Beach Volleyball season, also claimed Indoor Volleyball champions at the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup – Year 10 Honour Division.
