The Scots College Returns to Brighton

The Scots College Brighton Preparatory School, located in the historic Primrose House at Dolls Point, becomes a part of Australia’s oldest and most respected schools for boys. The Brighton Preparatory School opened in 2018 and has since grown, offering classes from Kindergarten to Year 6. In 2020, the Brighton Preparatory School celebrated the first inaugural Year 6 class graduating that same year.

Students enrolled at the Brighton Preparatory School will benefit from the same Brave Hearts Bold Minds philosophy of education implemented across all campuses of The Scots College.

A Unique Philosophy of Education - Brave Hearts Bold Minds

At Scots, we value the quest for excellence through adventure, curiosity, creativity and growth.

The Scots College is committed to a culture of high expectations in which boys can become creative, confident and accomplished learners. Our desired learning outcome is a young man who strives to maintain a firm grasp of every aspect of his humanity, working to develop his true masculinity and to strengthen himself in every way possible.

The Brighton Preparatory School strives to produce right heartedness, right thinking and right action. With brave hearts and bold minds – head, heart and hands engaged – our Scots boys may become strong, secure, humble and confident young men.

William Elder

1927-2010

Mr Alan Elder was born in Scotland and migrated to Australia with his parents at a young age. He attended The Scots College for all his schooling, graduating in 1944. He played 1st XI Cricket and was a member of the College Cadet Unit. After leaving school Mr Elder studied accountancy and retained a life-long love of the College, especially the Pipes and Drums. Mr Elder never married, however the significant bequest he left will allow his Scots family to remember him through the Lang Walker Business Centre.
