The new Scots College Aquatic facilities mark a bold step forward in our tradition of aquatic excellence. More than a pool, it is a distinctive, purpose-built, open-air arena designed to inspire performance, foster community, and elevate achievement. By creating a true home ground – immersive, vibrant, and full of school spirit – Scots is setting a new benchmark in GPS aquatics.
Inspired by the great European and Australian aquatic venues, the sun on your back and the fresh air in your lungs create energy and atmosphere. While shade and rest areas will be provided, the heart of this pool is the open-air experience.

This facility is a connector: a place where boys begin their aquatic journey and where pathways open to the highest levels of sport and study. Scots aims to host tours and clinics with Ivy League and NCAA universities such as Harvard, UCLA, and Stanford, and to offer training opportunities alongside Water Polo Australia national coaches in the lead-up to Brisbane 2032—experiences designed to extend far beyond Bellevue Hill.
Unlike larger, more traditional indoor venues, this project reflects Scots’ ethos of purposeful design—optimised for coaching, performance, and participation across all age groups. It prioritises function and impact over size or spectacle; it is purposeful design with aspiration at its heart. This will be a tangible legacy that shapes generations of swimmers and water polo players to come.
Impact
The new Aquatic facility will position Scots as a leader in aquatic sport. For the first time, Water Polo players will have a permanent home on campus, and swimmers will train in world-class conditions designed to maximise performance and coaching.
The pool has been purpose-built for excellence: 25m in length—ideal for both Water Polo and swimming training—30m in width to support dynamic Water Polo play, and 2.2m depth, meeting world aquatic Water Polo regulations. A state-of-the-art timing system ensures precision for Short Course Carnivals, while 12 expansive lanes allow more athletes to train simultaneously without compromising performance quality.
The facility will also host inter-college swimming carnivals, bringing all 12 senior houses together for races in a single, vibrant arena. This will elevate competition and atmosphere for house competitions, a cherished tradition spanning decades.
Once complete, the unique open-air arena will serve as a hub of excellence—nurturing skill development, team culture, and school pride for generations to come. More than a pool, it’s a home for ambition, community, and the next wave of aquatic champions.
