Have you considered a school-based early learning program?
Choosing a school for your son is one of the many decisions you will make as a parent or carer. You know your son so well and get excited when he reaches a new stage of development. Some of his favourite things may take you by surprise or you might still be exploring what his interests are.
Educators know that investigation, creation and discovery are essential learning experiences that nurture a boy’s early learning journey school-based program for boys – 3 and 4 years of age – is offered to parents and carers, as an alternative to long day care at The Scots College, Early Learning Centre. The Early Learning Centre offers, to the very youngest of boys at Scots, a carefully designed learning space during school hours. When required, Before and After School Care is also available.
Harnessing a boy’s natural curiosity, this school-based program is informed by the Reggio Emilia education principles. Throughout the day, the boys have many opportunities to engage in fun, purposeful play-based activities and investigations, which can be both teacher-directed or child-initiated, derived and guided from class interests.
The Early Learning Centre timetable is designed across the span of a week. Students also encounter different specialist lessons depending on the days they attend. Additional specialist classes include Art, Music, Dance and Drama, Physical Education, Library and Christian Studies.
This gentle transition into school life prepares boys to move smoothly into formal schooling in the next couple of years.
At Scots we believe each boy is an active discoverer of his new world. If you and your son would like to visit the Early Learning Centre, book a personal tour here.
