The Scots College Football Showcase, on Wednesday 21 August, was a great day for the College Football community. There were a great number of students in attendance from the Bellevue Hill and Brighton Preparatory School campuses to Senior students from the Middle and Senior School campuses. Joining the students included a good number of parents and carers who demonstrated their support for the event and the Football community.

The Scots 1st XI Football team played a hard-fought game against the Old Boys team. The game was played with the utmost respect for one another and in good spirits. The 1st XI Football team scored midway through the first half and shortly after the break, the Old Boys levelled the field by scoring their first goal. In a tight game, the 1st XI Football team scored a late winner to seal the 2-1 victory. It was great to see both teams putting in hard work during the game and also displaying great sportsmanship throughout the match.

Other highlights of the Football Showcase included the presence of Sydney FC, who provided an inflatable pitch which proved to be a hit with the boys. Key A league players, striker, Mr Max Burgess and midfielder, Mr Patrick Wood were interviewed by former Socceroo player, Mr Alex Brosque at half time and they openly signed autographs throughout the afternoon.

There were plenty of prizes provided by Sydney FC and The Scots College Football Support Group, which helped to provide great fun for the boys on the day.

Thank you to Sydney FC Foundation Manager, Ms Kate O’Shea who organised this wonderful event alongside Sydney FC Chairman, Mr Scott Barlow. Both Ms O’Shea and Mr Barlow’s sons attend Scots. A special mention must go to event organiser Mrs Jacqui Cameron who did an amazing job coordinating the whole event!

He played 1st XI Cricket and was a member of the College Cadet Unit. After leaving school Mr Elder studied accountancy and retained a life-long love of the College, especially the Pipes and Drums.
