Last weekend, the annual VEX Robot Australian National Championship was held in Adelaide, South Australia, from 4 to 6 March 2022. Nearly 80 teams participated, and more than 1,000 players and spectators were in attendance.

As members of the Sydney Robotics Academy Club and on the team, two Scots boys, entered the final round after 13 competitions. Their teams consisted of students from Sydney Boys High School, Sydney Grammar School, North Sydney Girls High School and Pymble Ladies’ College. One Scots boy was Team Captain.

The team was announced final Champion of 2022 VEX Robotic National Championship Australia of the Middle and High School group. They have qualified to participate in the VEX 2022 International Championship competition, which will be held in Dallas, USA, in early May.  Well done, boys!

William Elder

1927-2010

Mr Alan Elder was born in Scotland and migrated to Australia with his parents at a young age. He attended The Scots College for all his schooling, graduating in 1944. He played 1st XI Cricket and was a member of the College Cadet Unit. After leaving school Mr Elder studied accountancy and retained a life-long love of the College, especially the Pipes and Drums. Mr Elder never married, however the significant bequest he left will allow his Scots family to remember him through the Lang Walker Business Centre.
