The Scots College’s Captain of Water Polo and Athletic Association of the Great Public Schools (AAGPS) Premier, Felix Pal (Year 12), has earned a coveted spot as one of the top 15 players in the nation for Water Polo. In July, he will compete in the World Aquatics Men’s Under 18 Water Polo Championships 2024 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Over the past 12 months, Felix has immersed himself in numerous training camps and national tournaments where he competed against some of the best athletes for selection into this team. These tournaments had squads of over 40 players which were, eventually, reduced to the top 15 players in Australia.
Head Coach of the Australian Under 18 Men, Mr Andros Jo-Kovacs, is pleased that the squad has qualified to compete in Argentina.
“The boys have been working hard not only at national training camps but at home in their own training environments, so we’re excited to see them travel and compete internationally. Our goal is to develop athletes for the Ord Minnett Aussie Sharks squad and these experiences will be a great opportunity for the boys to continue developing on their journeys.”
Mr Andros Jo-Kovacs
Felix has remained steadfast in his perseverance and commitment to excellence. This achievement brings immense pride to his team as well as The Scots College community. Felix thanked the Water Polo program at Scots, as well as the College’s Sport and coaching staff. In particular, Felix wanted to thank the guidance and assistance that he has received from The Scots College Water Polo Coach, Mr Vedran Cirkovic, and Director of Aquatic Sports, Ms Yvette Higgins.
Congratulations, and we wish Felix the very best, as he prepares to compete in July!
